The Department of Construction Sciences brings together research, education and advanced research infrastructure in Structural Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Solid Mechanics, Engineering Acoustics and Computational Science.

Our research ranges from materials and advanced experimental and computational methods to structures, components and buildings. Our activities encompass both fundamental and applied research and are often conducted in collaboration with industry and other research organisations.

The department also includes LUNARC, Lund University’s centre for scientific and technical computing. LUNARC provides large-scale computing resources and expertise for research at Lund University and at the national level.

The department contributes to education at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. By combining research, education, collaboration and research infrastructure, we create opportunities for new knowledge and for developing solutions to both current and future technological and societal challenges.
